世界语言

The 世界语言 program at College Prep is immersion based, interactive, and collaborative. The department’s primary goal is to inspire students to become global citizens through the study of languages and 文化s. Lively classes invite self-expression and infuse students with a passion for inquiry, 理解, 和沟通.

    China has taken an increa唱ly important role on the world stage in business, 经济学, 政治, 文化, 和文学. 说汉语的人比说其他任何语言的人都多. College Prep’s Mandarin 中国人 program encourages students to participate in this global conversation by providing a strong foundation in listening, 说话, 阅读, 和写作. Students begin by learning the simplified characters that are used primarily in mainland China. Those who study 中国人 leave College Prep prepared for advanced language study in college and are well equipped to interact—both in 写作 and in conversation—with native speakers of 中国人 throughout the world.

    中文一、二、三 
    初级和中级汉语课程侧重于培养听力, 说话, 阅读, 现代标准汉语的写作能力, 使用拼音和简体字. Emphasis is placed on establishing a solid foundation in 说话, tones, and general pronunciation. 随着学生在课程中的进步, they deepen their understanding of 中国人 language and 文化 with the help of multimedia materials and acquire the ability to thrive in real-world 中国人-说话 environments. The class provides opportunities for students to practice their listening, 说话, 日常读写能力, 培养学生在真实生活中使用中文的能力.

    中文四:语文 & 文化
    This seminar explores the richness of the 中国人 language and 文化 through family and community, 个人与公众认同, 美与美学, 科学技术, 当代生活, 以及全球挑战. 本课程通过阅读促进语言发展, 电影, and 演讲 as students cultivate their understanding of the 中国人 language across the full range of language skills within a cultural frame of reference.

    汉语V-VI:高级汉语会话
    在本课程中, advanced-level language students maintain and continue to build Mandarin 中国人 proficiency through immersive lessons on contemporary 文化, 历史, 文学, 艺术, 和电影. Daily conversation and inquiry is spurred through course materials such as novels, 诗, 短篇小说, 播客, 电影, 和纪录片. Students are expected to interact, inquire, think, and communicate in Mandarin

The course looks at historical and contemporary facets of “Hispanic” 身份 and transculturation in the 西班牙语-说话 world of the Americas. A final project examines how 身份 is constructed in bilingual children’s books.
